
The F. Sionil Jose Young Writers Award was established by the children of F. Sionil Jose to honor his legacy to the young writers of the Philippines. It seeks to advance excellence, integrity, social justice, and the expression of love of country in literature. It is also to honor the memory of his wife, Teresita Jovellanos Jose, who was his main support and inspiration.
This award is organized by Solidaridad Enterprises, Philippine PEN, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Requirements:
- Age: 30 years old or younger
- Nationality: Filipino citizen residing in the Philippines
- Literary style: 2 Categories—short story written in English and short story written in Filipino
Submission Guidelines:
- One unpublished or published short story written in English or Filipino. Published short story must have been published in 2023 or later.
- Format: maximum of 20 pages, numbered, double-spaced, 12-font type
- Cover Page: Include complete name, address, email, phone number, and title of short story. Also include a brief biography (200 words or less) about the author and date of birth. If the short story has been published, include the publication source and date published.

Award Presentation:
The F. Sionil Jose Young Writers Award will be presented to the winners on Nov. 28, 2024 during the F. Sionil Jose Conference at the De La Salle University, Manila.
